Over the course of this week students at each grade level have learned a whole new language with dance. They've learned counting to music, been exposed to a variety of different dance genres and, most important, have had lots of fun. Thursday, the students had an opportunity to do grade level performances for their peers. Parents do not fret. You will be invited to see the complete and final performance in November when Dance Instructor, Exavier, returns for the second half. Students will be practicing over the course of the next several weeks. Exavier, our dance instructor, will be back in November for the second week of formal lessons (more specifically, the second half of the grade level routines) that will result in an all school daytime community event where each grade level will perform for you and their student peers. Please look for more information in the coming weeks. Encourage your students to dance, dance, and dance over the next weeks.

We are always proud to see a large ESD presence at Omar's Run, this year to be held Sunday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Hellyer Park. This run raises funds to enable hospitalized and medically supervised kids to remotely attend school allowing them to stay connected to their teachers and classmates, in memory of ESD student Omar Hassan who passed away from leukemia in 2012. This was his dream and we run to help that dream become a reality. Check out their website omarsdream.org for more and for registration information.

The School Site Council (SSC) is an organization compromised of the school principal, teachers, staff and parents/community, as a well as provide input into the formation and review of our school site plan. Members commit to a two-year team, and will meet five times a year. The English Language Learners Committee (ELAC) consists of members who can act as advocates for our school's ELL population.
